Disappointed yes--Regrets NO!

We just got home and I'm sure everyone is anxious to hear how I did....well..not very good--I competed with a softer "figure physique"than last year (I had originally heard that figure was going for a softer look this year) and it totally backfired. I don't know my exact placing but i'll say probably somewhere 8-10 out of 16 girls--could be higher or lower--i've emailed the CBBF to get my placing. This show is still rewarding the "big, ripped" girls and not the "softer, figure" look that Ontario is pushing for and is wanted in the US. I'm disappointed but there is/was absolutely nothing I could've done about it except to get leaner and drier but i'm not getting bigger--i'm at my max lean mass and i only hope to improve my physique but not get it any bigger--my legs are slowly improving and i'm happy with my physique. I am not done competing yet, you'll see me again on stage but not with bodybuilders. I'm glad I entered and attended the show but it wasn't the greatest experience--it was one i will never forget though. I met many of the gals i chat with online and each one is more beautiful in person than in their photos!! It was awesome hanging out backstage with Nancy, Stacey, Kim, Christine, Catherine, Cindy and Sharon--we definitely had the "team Ontario" spirit. Marnie--looked incredible and i'm sooo happy she won her class!! She totally deserved to win!! Lorraine--you looked great, if she came in like she did last year at the provincials she definitely would've have won her class, but she also came in a little softer. Christine, Cindy, and Sharon--you all looked amazing in masters!Emmanuella downsized this year and looked great!
I finally met Debbie and Heather--both of these girls are amazing and looked great on stage--we have lots of pictures that i'll hopefully get up soon.
On Saturday after prejuding my emotions got the best of me and i didn't want to have my photos taken (i felt like a failure)--Sorry Gene:( But Darrin once again...got some great shots even though my heart wasn't into shooting. It was nice to see familiar faces from Ontario there, Melanie, Fred, Doug, Nina and the families of the Ontario athletes. I had the honour of meeting Kim's family and they were awesome!--her mom totally supported us and was cheering like crazy!! This is the BEST condition I've seen Kim bring to the stage--she looked stunning. Stacey and her boyfriend were incredible as well..even though we knew that we didn't have much of a chance we all supported one another and made the best of the time spent together. We flew down-and back- with Cindy (Currie) and her husband Glenn and it was great getting to know both of them!! Cindy--you looked amazing!! Christine (Lanois) was lifting everyone's spirits and was always soo positive. Catherine kept me sane backstage and it was great chatting with her while we were waiting to go on--She looked amazing as well--you'll see her in the pics with me as she was #8 and I was #7.
Darrin was proud of me and told me that there was nothing i could have done if the judges were choosing that kind of physique. We were hoping that this show was going to be different and begin to reward the figure look that the States (and to be able to succeed on an international level) has--but we were wrong.
All the athletes looked great and worked extremely hard to achieve the physique's that were showcased. I send many congratulations to all of Canada's newest pros!! I wish each of you all the success in the world as you represent Canada on the pro stage!
Here is a photo of the best in the world--the Olympia Champions and this is what we are supposed to be aiming to achieve...But the Canadian National judges went with a different look once again.
The confusion and frustration among amateur figure competitors is at an alltime high right now. There definitely has to be some guidelines or expectations across the country very soooon or else the Nationals will become just another Alberta bodybuilding show.
Special Thanks:
Darrin--thanks for believing in me and supporting me throughout this journey. You were proud of me and that means the most. For everyone that doesn't know--Darrin did the last week depleting with me--i thought he was crazy but he did it for me:) He took some pretty incredible pictures once again and i can't wait to share them with you.
My mom, sister, Kay and Dick--thank you for all your support and love that you gave me. I came home to flowers and a decorations that my mom had left me--it made me cry, in a good/comforting way.
Ron Hache and the OPA--for covering our registration and providing tracksuits.
Allmax--my sponsor, the team supported me 100% and believes in me.
Karen(KHP)--for my incredible suits which sparkled like crazy on stage.
Peter-for taking care of the store while we were gone--and the support you and Elaine have shown. I received a HUGE card in Edmonton with lots of photos on it wishing me good luck!!
To all my friends--thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your good wishes and inspiring words to get me through the dieting!

You looked beautiful at this show- you should feel proud of yourself for making it this far. Being a fellow figure competitor, I understand your frustration when it comes to what physiques are required where. While Ontario awards slightly smaller, softer physiques (and thats what you need to bring to the stage if you want to get to the Pro stage) BUT once youre fighting for a place higher up, the physiques are being judged completely differently. There is absolutely no consistency when it comes to judging in the OPA and the CBBF. So Im sorry that your experience was disappointing, but you should hold your head high because only a handful of women in the WORLD can say that they've been where you were and look the way you do! Congratulations :)

Like i said before you even hit that stage..you are a true champion in my books and in many others!!! you are a true inspiration to girls such as myself and an amazing friend.
Don't let what a panel of judges think discourage your wishes and dreams...stay strong and train strong
see you soon <3

Ahhh..Thanks for such nice posts!! I'm proud to have had the opportunity to compete with the best in Canada:) Maybe next year i'll go back(i have 1 more chance to place at the Nationals) but right now without the size i wouldn't have a chance on that stage--there's absolutely nothing wrong with the size of the other gals-they looked great and obviously knew what the judges were look'n for but its just not in the books for me right now.
The congrats are soo nice to hear--everyone has been very supportive and its very heart warming!! Thank you:)

hiya girl!!!
It was great to have met you. You are very nice in person. I kept in consideration the frustration with the judges idea of "figure" apparently in Canada it means bodybuilding. I think you still did well though. I think I will be last (sick and smooth :( not a good look for me.) Anyhoo you rocked and i look forward to following you as you keep at it!
cheers
Deb

I was a competitor at this show and didn't have the size they wanted. I have spoken to many and the response is universal, not impressed. I will not go back to the Nationals if they continue to award bodybuilders. just my 2cents...
