Hey everyone,
I've been doing a lot of soul searching for the past week or so & finally decided I'm withdrawing from the North American Championships (even though I've alreadyregistered and paid for them)-- as my heart isn't into competing right now....and realistically I can't justify putting forth the expense for another show--these ones that are out of province are way too expensive--its not worth it--I can give myself more exposure on MY own website than these shows give. I decided that on the weekend--I want to have a "normal" life right now so I'm going to take a year off competing to see what direction the industry heads towards in figure. I will probably make my comeback at the North Americans next year, however, I will still be involved in the sport just not on the stage right now. I want to "shrink" my body a bit--as I don't like carrying this much muscle--I liked myself better when I was smaller and more refined--so I'm going to reshape my physique over the year--this will be more marketable as well. This will be the best in the long run for me. I don't like the rebound effect from competing--especially in Canada where you have to put on the musculature size of a bodybuilder--I would rather promote and support the industry and athletes to the best of my ability and to do that successfully I have to be happy with myself first--emotionally and physically. So...thats where my head is right now. I was a little disappointed at first but now I'm satisfied with my decision. Hopefully everyone will understand my decision as its the best option for me and everyone in my life at this moment in time.
We have A LOT going on in our life right now --which we'll be announcing some stuff soon!! Its very exciting and we're looking forward to the future Keep check'n back here since I'll be updating to reflect the events that take place in our life quite frequently.
Thank you
to everyone who has supported me over the past few years!! The friendships are priceless and I will always be around to give back the support that you all have shown to me I will be back on stage in the future--and hopefully here in Canada --if the changes to the judging criteria (in figure) are implemented across the country--lets keep our fingers crossed and make our voices heard for the positive future of this sport!!

Good for you L.A. You have to look out for #1!!!
I just started reading your blog a little while ago and was in awe of your physique. Your such an inspiration and I wish you the best :)
Like you I'm thouroughly disgusted with the judging of figure and fitness in Canada and I am only a fan (I don't compete). But I never watch shows up here anymore, instead I watch shows in the US because I feel that the girls physiques best represent the category of fitness or figure. The CBBF needs to wake up and realize that their judging is not consistent with the US and since they are handing out pro cards so that their athletes can represent Canada at the pro shows maybe we ought to start having some consistency with our judging up here! As a fan, YES I AM A FEMALE WHO SUPPORTS THE INDUSTRY BY BUYING MAGAZINES AND PRODUCTS, I never buy products with big girls on the covers or labels!!! Go the pro route through the North Americans unless you are prepared to look the female version of the Incredible Hulk - and we all know that is not flatering on the female body!
Thanks for all the support!! It means a lot to me:) I've had soo many incredible emails that its almost overwhelming--I cherish each one and keep reading them over and over:)
LA:)
Good on you LA, u do need to be happy with yourself, I personally could not carry the muscular physic & I applaud u for doing so. In the end u need to be happy with ur appearance & if that means leaning down then all the best. Hope that everything works out for you!!

Only you know what is best for you and the peace you are at with your decision means that it was the right one for you at this point in your life.
Whether you are actively competing or not, you are still such an inspiration to many people, those that compete and those that are just after a healthy lifestyle!!
Keep being you LA... you're the best!! xxx
